Children's Literature Review:
There are indeed cats in this book, three of them, peering mischievously over the partial dust jacket from the cover. One named AndrÅ is large, chubby and yellow; Moonpie is tall, thin and blue; the little one saying, "Meow!" is red and named Tiny; all smile cheerily. Schwarz tells us on the first end page that they aren't on that page, or on the next. But she tells us that they would "love to play with you." And on the next double page, complete with purrs, a patchwork quilt can be lifted to reveal first Tiny, saying, "Huh?" Lift his flap and he says, "Hello. Who are you?" Lift Moonpie next, as he asks, "Are you nice?" Then AndrÅ notes, "You look nice
" Lift him and the reader is encouraged to follow the yarn Tiny is pulling to the next page. And so the jolly cats take the reader on an interactive adventure, turning pages, lifting flaps, opening boxes, into a pillow fight, even blowing the cats dry. The fun comes to an end as the sleepy cats offer a goodnight kiss, ask to be tucked in...
