About the book:

Description: Bestselling author Cabot delivers the second book in her hilarious new series starring Allie Finkle, the new girl at Pine Heights Elementary. What critics think:

Children's Literature Review: It's always difficult and stressful for a young girl to start her first day at elementary school. It is not any different for Allie Finkle in this second book of "The New Girl" series. Allie has her hands full in this tale, not only because she is starting her first day at Pine Heights Elementary School but also because she is getting a new kitten. In addition, Allie runs into problems when one of the girls in her new class, named Rosemary, decides she doesn't like Allie. What's worse is that Rosemary even threatens to beat up Allie after school. This book is a charmer that any child can relate to. The chapter titles alone would draw a child into reading this book, from "Rule #1: When You Are Starting Your First Day Ever at a Brand New School, You Have to Wear Something Good, So people Will Think You're Nice," through "Rule #4: When Someone Decides She's Going to Beat You Up, the Best Thing to Do is Hide," the reader is drawn into the routine problems of kids this age. A winner.
