Children's Literature Review: True fans of fantasy know there is plenty to read even though Harry Potter is finally over. After five books, Jenny Nimmo's "Children of the Red King" series is still going strong. In this, the sixth adventure, Charlie Bone and his fellow students at Bloor's Academy set off to rescue one of their own who is trapped in a dungeon. The path to rescue, of course, never runs straight. It leads our heroes over raging rivers, down the deepest tunnels, and into a mysterious shop that sells nothing but tea kettles. Each of the Red King's descendants is endowed with a special gift. Charlie is a "picture traveler," who can transport himself inside any visual image. His friend Billy talks to animals. Olivia creates life-like illusions, and Emma can transform herself into a bird at will. All of these abilities, and many more, come into play during the course of the book.
