Returning Online Orders to Borders.com

We will refund your online purchase if you:

  • Return new books, unopened CDs, and DVDs in their original condition.
  • Include your packing slip and completed returns form.
  • Return within 30 days of the shipment date listed on your packing slip.
  • Ship all returns using the pre-printed label included with the packing slip.

Note:

  • Shipping charges are not refundable.
  • Gift cards are nonrefundable and are not redeemable for cash.
  • Returns made to Borders.com will be refunded in the form of the original payment method.
  • Lost your packing slip? Please contact Customer Care at 800.770.7811 to obtain your order number and return instructions. Customers outside of the U.S. may contact us at 615.287.1704.
  • You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (5 to 10 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days). We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.

Returning Online Orders to Your Local Store

Customers may return items purchased online to any Borders, Borders Express, Waldenbooks, or Borders Outlet location in the United States.

You will receive a return gift card equal to the value of your online purchase when you:

  • Return new books, unopened CDs, and DVDs in their original condition.
  • Present your packing slip.
  • Present items to the store within 30 days from the shipment date listed on your packing slip.

Note:

  • Shipping charges are not refundable.
  • Gift cards are nonrefundable and are not redeemable for cash.

Returning an Online Gift Order

If you receive an order as a gift and wish to return it, you may do so within 30 days of the ship date. You have two options for returning the merchandise.

To return the merchandise online, fill out the returns form included with the order and attach the return shipping label provided. Orders returned online that were marked as gifts will be credited to the recipient in the form of a gift card; otherwise, standard (non-gift) orders returned online will be credited to the purchaser.

You may also return or exchange the merchandise at any Borders, Borders Express, Waldenbooks, or Borders Outlet location in the United States.
