Finance—The finance team manages the numbers to keep us a healthy and growing organization. How? By maintaining transparency, working with other departments, and helping the company make informed business decisions from a financial standpoint. Jobs include accounting, auditing, inventory control, financial planning and reporting, international finance, purchasing, tax, and real estate.

Human Resources—When all is said and done, it's the people that make Borders such a great place to work. The Human Resources team focuses on partnering with our business leaders to hire the best talent, train and develop our people, and maintain an environment where people are the voices and means of change and positive growth. Positions here include talent acquisition, learning & development, compensation, human resource information systems (HRIS), payroll, employee communications, and benefits administration.

Information Technology—The IT group maintains, develops, and supports technology and software to meet our dynamic needs. Opportunities here include applications development, business systems analysis, project management, quality control, systems support, architecture and planning, networking, systems engineering and administration, and IT operations.

Marketing—The marketing group is the voice of the brand, speaking to our customers through a broad range of channels, from in-store to e-commerce and print advertising. The marketing department seeks out new avenues of communication with the desire to enhance and complement the Borders experience at every level. They are the people who create and grow customer relationships and loyalty. Opportunities in marketing include events, promotions, advertising, customer-relationship management, and creative services (design, content, editorial, and production).

Merchandising—This group makes sure our stores offer the widest and most relevant assortment of books, music, movies, and other products suited to what our customers want, both today and in the future. This group includes books, music, movies, gifts, stationery, calendars, and periodicals. Positions include buying, planning, allocation & replenishment, and marketing.

Store Operations—Borders builds its brand and grows its business through the stores. This team ensures the stores have what they need and are adapting to suit our customers' changing needs. The operations group focuses on helping the stores drive execution to increase our sales and profitability, making sure our stores have the right look and feel, and ensuring that our customers' needs are met. These positions include store planning, cafe management, customer service, operational procedure development, loss prevention, and customer-related initiatives for our stores.
