I was fascinated by the unique concept of this book: existing in the state between life and death, and pinning all your hopes for getting out of that state on the very last person on earth. It swept me away. Beautifully done, Kevin Brockmeier!

Phillipa Gregory could write her grocery list and I would be riveted. For me, no author captures historical intrigue and setting better than she. All those queens and kings I found dreadfully boring in history class leap off her pages and into my living room.
