	The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien An obvious choice for a fantasy writer, perhaps, but the original source of inspiration for me to write fantasy. I can read these books over and over and never tire of them.
	Babylon 5: The Complete First Five Seasons This wonderful series was to TV what The Lord of the Rings was to literature—layered, beautifully written, and set in a fantastic world with great characters.
	The Illusionist A very cool movie that still has me thinking.
	Woodlands by Tingstad & Rumbel He plays guitar, she woodwinds, and the combination is magical. Their music is soothing and creates a wonderful background for writing. I pick Woodlands because it was the first album of theirs I was introduced to, and is a sentimental favorite.
	Beauty & Crime by Suzanne Vega Suzanne Vega is about the best songwriter I've come across—a great writer period, and an inventive musician. I have loved her stuff for years.
